NOTE:
In some circumstances the Arizona State Record score may differ from the Pope and Young World Record score due to the fact that in some instances it may take more than two years for Pope and Young to Panel Score a trophy. This sometimes results in additional shrinkage and a final score that is lower than its original 60-day score due in no fault to the trophy owner. This was particularly prevalent in the case of trophies submitted with a score that was at or above a current world record score. Prior to 2018, P&Y did not give credit to such animals for any shrinkage that occurred, unlike trophies submitted below a current world record score. In the case of these pending world records, the panel score became the animal’s official score. When the final score was lowered on such trophies in a relatively small amount, which could be attributed solely to the shrinkage penalty applied by P&Y only to pending world records, the BIA Committee sometimes elected to maintain the animal’s original score rather than pass on the seemingly unfair penalty for a trophy exceeding a world record score.
